Got a loaf of bread that got squished in the grocery bag? Or maybe you live alone and can’t get through a whole loaf before it goes stale? Don’t throw it out: Try one of these ideas instead!
Breadcrumbs
- Place bread slices into an oven preheated to 250°F until hard and golden brown about 30 minutes
- Crumble slices into a bowl until reduced to fine crumbs
Bread Pudding
- Heat ¼ cup butter and 2 cups milk over medium heat until butter is melted
- In a bowl, mix 2 eggs, ½ cup sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, ¼ tsp salt
- Stir in 6 slices of cubed bread and ½ cup raisins
- Stir in milk and butter mixture
- Place into a deep pan and bake for 40-45 minutes
Croutons
- Brush slices of bread with melted butter
- Cut bread into small cubes and sprinkle with garlic salt
- Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes or until browned
Panzanella
- Slice 1 loaf of bread into 1 inch cubes and place in oven heated to 300°F for 20 minutes
- Combine bread and a chopped cucumber, bell pepper, and onion in a bowl
- Add ½ cup of vinaigrette and stir well
- Let marinate for ½ hour to 4 hours
