Carey: “It makes me feel good knowing someone’s day will be a little brighter because they can have a meal with loved ones.”

Carey and Taylor started volunteering in September 2021 when Taylor was attending Belmont and in need of service hours. After their first shift, Carey and Taylor loved their experience so much they decided to come back once a week and have been with us ever since!

Carey says, “I really enjoy making the emergency boxes. It makes me feel good knowing someone’s day will be a little brighter because they can have a meal with loved ones.” Carey and Taylor appreciate how easy it is to make a difference in their community through volunteering. “Not everyone has room in their budget to donate, but anyone can give their time,” Carey shares.

Taylor feels that volunteering has not only helped her do her part in helping other Tennesseans, but has made her feel more fulfilled and hopeful. She says, “It’s good for the world and for your own mental health, so it’s really a win-win!”
