During this holiday season, Kroger continues long history of feeding hope in Middle Tennessee

“Kroger has partnered with Second Harvest for almost 40 years,” said Melissa Eads of Kroger. “We’re in the food business, so it makes sense that supporting Second Harvest and working to feed hungry people would be important to us.”

After nearly four decades of feeding hope in Middle Tennessee, Kroger knows that the holidays can be an especially difficulty time for those struggling with hunger in our community.

Through their successful #ZeroHungerZeroWate programs, the grocer has ramped up its hunger-fighting efforts to bring food to struggling families this time of year.

#ZeroHungerZeroWaste

#ZeroHungerZeroWaste is Kroger’s commitment to ending hunger and eliminating waste in their stores by 2025, and they’re working toward this goal through several initiatives with Second Harvest.

Three times a week, our trucks pick up fresh produce and other perishable items from Kroger stores that would have otherwise gone to waste. This food is then sorted at our warehouse and distributed to our Partner Agencies for those in need.

Earlier this fall, Kroger hosted an all-day Titans Food Drive at Nissan Stadium, which provided over 15,000 meals for families, children, and seniors struggling with hunger.

In addition, Kroger frequently supports Mobile Pantries and its employees often volunteer their time and energy towards our mission.
