Summer Meals for Kids Like Solara

Middle school is hard enough for kids.

It’s even harder when you’re the new kid who doesn’t know anyone.

Solara understands.

“This is my first year at my new school, and I don’t know many people there,” says the 6th grader.

Thankfully, Solara found comfort and connection at an afterschool program in Davidson County—one of Second Harvest’s Partner Agencies. There, she gets healthy snacks and time to unwind with friends.

“You can come here and get a snack,” she says. “It’s important to have a snack break before starting your homework or playing with friends.”

But when summer break starts, students like Solara lose access to the free breakfasts and lunches they count on during the school year.

That’s where you come in.

With your support, Second Harvest’s summer programs help fill the gap—keeping kids like Solara nourished, active, and ready to thrive.

Thanks to you, Solara has a Hunger Free Summer.

And for that, we’re truly grateful.
