In its 8th year, Ms. Cheap’s Penny Drive set a record for the most funds raised – a total of $80,000 and counting has been raised to provide more than 320,000 meals to children, families and seniors struggling with hunger in Middle Tennessee. Throughout the past eight years, the drive has raised approximately $385,000, providing more than 1.5 MILLION meals.

First and foremost, we are so thankful for Mary Hance, aka Ms. Cheap. Without her and her continuous vision, leadership and commitment to Second Harvest’s mission to feed hungry people in our community none of this would be possible. Year after year she raises awareness of hunger issues and how easy it is to make a difference – every penny counts!

We must also thank our Penny Drive partners – Kroger, Pinnacle Financial Partners, The Tennessean and Wilson Bank and Trust. This year, both Kroger and Wilson Bank & Trust raised $15,000 for the Penny Drive. In addition, both Pinnacle Financial Partners and The Tennesseean made significant contributions.

Lastly, thank you to the many members of our community for donating spare change – whether it was through a company, school, church or as an individual – you made a difference.
