Other Ways to Get Help

Emergency Food Boxes

Second Harvest has expanded our Emergency Food Box program to help those affected by tornadoes and COVID-19.

If you need food and live in Davidson or Wilson County, you can visit any of the  locations on the Emergency Food Box map below and get a food box with 2-3 days of staple food items. Please bring proof of address and some form of ID for all adult household members. Typically there are income requirements to qualify for this program, but those have all been waived until future notice.

If you live outside Davidson and Wilson counties, please use the Find Food tool above to locate the food distribution closest to you. We encourage you to call ahead and confirm open times and dates.

Emergency Food Box

Our Emergency Food Box (EFB) sites feed individuals and families in Davidson County on an urgent-need basis. An EFB provides two to three days of staple food items based on the number of members in each household. Use the map below to find one near you.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Outreach

*URGENT UPDATES*

*NEW* TN to distribute $180 million in meal assistance to families of children eligible for free or reduced-price school meals. Application deadline extended to Aug. 14. Read More>>

TN Department of Human Services has moved to in-person services by appointment only in response to COVID-19.  The best way to apply for SNAP is online. If you need help applying for SNAP, you can call or text Second Harvest at 615-310-0752. We’re happy to help.

WHAT IS SNAP?
SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) is for people with low incomes, including working people, households with children, seniors, unemployed people, immigrant families, and people with disabilities. SNAP helps them buy the food they need for good health.

Second Harvest’s Benefits Outreach Counselor shares information about SNAP benefits, pre-screens potential participants, and helps people fill out the application.

Second Harvest offers SNAP Outreach through our Emergency Food Box sites, Mobile Pantry distributions, and Partner Agencies. In FY18, our SNAP Outreach team helped complete more than 1,250 SNAP applications.

For more SNAP information, please send us an email or call our Benefits Outreach Counselor at 615-310-0752.
