Why Jaynee Day is Leaving a Legacy of Hope

Service to others is key in my life.

My dad worked for United Way and my mom worked in health care. Early on, I saw that helping others counts.

I followed their lead. I gave over 50 years of my life to nonprofit work. 31 of those years were spent as CEO of Second Harvest.

Four adults in business attire stand outdoors near trucks. One woman hands a packaged item to a smiling man while another man holds a crate of cans. All appear to be engaged in a formal or ceremonial presentation.

I saw parents, kids, and seniors struggle. Hunger hits all walks of life. It can be any of us.

When I made my will, I included a gift to Second Harvest. I want my legacy to help their vital work continue.

Second Harvest is a proven steward of gifts—96 cents of every dollar goes to those in need. It’s a mission I trust. I’ve seen how food changes lives.

As we mark National Estate Planning Week, I urge you to leave a legacy. Add Second Harvest to your will to make sure our neighbors have food for today and tomorrow.

A gift in your will is a way to keep giving the gift of life for generations to come.
