** Produce Truck operations are suspended until further notice, in compliance with CDC recommendations. Please consider volunteering for our emergency warehouse shifts instead. We are taking every precaution to keep our volunteers safe and healthy in our warehouses. The need for emergency food boxes is very high in Middle Tennessee, and we can’t help these vulnerable people without our dedicated volunteers! **
Tuesday through Friday, morning and afternoon shifts
Shifts vary per day.
Help us distribute fresh food to our hungry neighbors in Davidson County! The Second Harvest Produce Truck travels throughout Davidson County distributing perishable food to individuals and families each week at pre-established locations. Perishable food items include dairy, yogurt, bread, and produce.
The food is distributed directly from the truck, and a volunteer is needed to assist the driver with the following tasks: set-up and break down at each stop, food distribution, and client interaction.
The food distribution takes place mainly in an outdoor environment. Please dress appropriately for the weather forecast.
• Closed-toe shoes are required for all volunteers’ safety. No exceptions.
• Wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. You’ll be standing/walking much of the shift.
• Wear layers, so you’ll be prepared if the weather changes.
