Country star joins Wells Fargo and Feeding America to spotlight the issue of hunger
A few weeks ago, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee had a special surprise volunteer – Nashville-native and country music star Thomas Rhett.
Rhett, a long-time supporter of Second Harvest, joined volunteers from Wells Fargo and in packing BackPacks for students at-risk of hunger. During his visit he also spoke with Second Harvest President & CEO Nancy Keil about the 1 in 8 individuals – including 1 in 7 children – facing food insecurity in Middle and West Tennessee.
The volunteer event is just one part of a larger campaign with Wells Fargo and Feeding America to collect food and funds now through December 31 for the millions of individuals struggling with hunger across the United States, including Thomas Rhett’s recent special performance at the American Music Awards highlighting the fight against hunger. Wells Fargo is also donating up to $5 million to Feeding America in direct donations and matching funds to help support hunger relief. Learn more here.
