Thank You for Giving Hope in the Form of Food

daryl-highersDaryl began visiting Hope Food Bank, a Second Harvest Partner Agency in White House, about a year ago. After a fall and a back injury left him unable to work, he was laid off from his job and worried about how he’d be able to feed his daughter and 1-year-old granddaughter, who live with him.

He says it was such a relief to be able to access healthy groceries at the food bank during that uncertain time. Now on disability, it’s often a struggle for him to stretch his fixed income to afford enough food.

“If it weren’t for Hope Food Bank, I’d be doing without a lot,” he says.

Because you choose to give, Daryl’s family no longer stresses about how they’ll put food on the table. Hope Food Bank’s full shelves of cereal, produce, shelf-stable canned goods and other nutritious items sustain neighbors like Daryl living in White House and surrounding communities.

Your gifts are a true lifeline to families who struggle with hunger. Daryl says transitioning from working full-time to recovering from his injury has been tough. He’s used to providing for his family, and budgeting on a diminished income is no easy task. That’s why he’s giving thanks for compassionate people like you.

“I thank you for your work and getting [food] to people who need it here in White House,” Daryl says. “It makes me proud, knowing my family can have something to eat.”

No one should have to worry about having enough food — especially during this special time of year. Thank you for helping ensure our neighbors have access to nutritious meals and groceries!
