During this spring’s Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign, Walmart is joining forces with its customers and suppliers – Campbell Soup Company, General Mills, Kellogg Company, The Kraft Heinz Company, Pepsico and Discover – to raise 100 million meals for Feeding America and its nationwide network of member food banks, including Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.
“We appreciate Walmart’s ongoing commitment to fighting hunger, making a difference in our local communities through the Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign,” said Jaynee Day, president and CEO of Second Harvest. “This campaign is crucial to our collective ability to raise awareness about the issue of hunger in America, allowing us to secure more local funds and ultimately provide food to more people in need in Middle Tennessee. We hope people across our community will take action against hunger by participating in this campaign.”
Walmart is offering three easy ways for everyone to take action against hunger and help their local Feeding America food bank.
- Purchase: For every participating product purchased at U.S. Walmart stores from April 17 – May 15, 2017, the supplier will donate the equivalent of one meal to a Feeding America member food bank.
- Online Acts of Support: Engage with the Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign on social media by creating original content with the hashtag #FightHunger on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. For each online act of support, Walmart will donate the equivalent of 10 meals to Feeding America on behalf of member food banks, up to $1.5 million.
- Donate at the Register: Donate to a Feeding America member food bank at the register during checkout.

With one in seven Middle Tennesseans, including one in five children, struggling with hunger, the Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign comes at a critical time. Last year, Second Harvest received more than $181,600 from Walmart’s campaign to fight hunger.
