Project Preserve®

Project Preserve is the social enterprise of Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. We pride ourselves on our innovative sourcing, quality products, excellent customer service, and the knowledge that we are a nonprofit serving nonprofits feeding people facing hunger.

Partner Agencies

Second Harvest distributes food and other products to more than 420 community Partner Agencies in Middle and West Tennessee. Partners include food pantries, congregate meal sites, shelters, youth programs, and senior centers.

Nutrition Outreach

The Nutrition Outreach program, led by our Registered Dietitian and dietetic interns, offers nutrition education, recipes, and cooking classes to neighbors.

Healthcare

Our healthcare programs are vital in addressing the intersection between hunger and health. We have food pharmacies at select federally qualified health clinics throughout our service area that provide nourishment to neighbors who struggle with food insecurity. In addition to food, they are equipped with other necessary wraparound services to address all social determinants of health.

SNAP Outreach

People with low incomes often don’t realize they qualify for SNAP. So we have staff dedicated to helping people apply for SNAP (formerly known as food stamps).

Mobile Pantry

Many people experiencing hunger live in food deserts, and often have transportation challenges. So Second Harvest meets people where they are.

Grocery Rescue Program

A leader in the battle against food waste, Second Harvest rescues food from grocery stores that would otherwise go to the landfill.

Farm to Families

This program engages local farmers, community volunteers, and our Partner Agencies to support those struggling with hunger.

Neighbor Care Pantry

An NCP provides 2-3 days of staple foods based on the number of members in each household.
