Miles is 11. Sixth grade is full of fun new experiences for him, like homemade volcanoes and other fun science experiments. English and Science are Miles’ two favorite subjects, and when he grows up, he wants to be a scientist to help cure diseases.

When school is out for the summer, kids like Miles lose access to free and reduced-price meals in the school cafeteria. That means summer, which could be full of fun experiences and playing outside with friends, can instead be full of hunger.

Because of generous friends like you, Miles will be able to enjoy the Second Harvest Kids Cafe program at Partner Agency Easley Community Center — just one of the many programs your generosity helps support.

Kids Cafe provides free meals, snacks, and nutrition education to at-risk children through a variety of community programs during and after school and in the summer months.

Miles knows how important it is to eat a variety of foods to keep him happy and healthy throughout the day. That’s why he likes to eat lots of fruits and vegetables.

“When I eat fruits and vegetables, it wakes me up and gives me energy and helps me not get tired at the end of the day,” Miles explains.
