March is Nutrition Month!

We’re excited to announce our three-year partnership with LifePoint Health to create healthier communities.

hr-group-shotSecond Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee and LifePoint Health are celebrating Nutrition Month this March by announcing a three-year partnership to “Create Healthier Communities” across Middle Tennessee. Throughout Nutrition Month, both companies will be promoting “good health starts with good food” to educate the public about the significant role nutrition plays in addressing hunger and health issues.

In Middle Tennessee, one in seven people, including one in five children, are food insecure. Food insecurity is defined by the USDA as limited or uncertain access to enough food to support a healthy life.

“We wanted to partner with an organization that clearly aligned with our mission of Making Communities Healthier® and could help us achieve this in a unique way – by fighting food insecurity and making sure people have access to nutrient-rich foods,” said Bill Carpenter, chairman and chief executive officer of LifePoint Health. “We are so excited about our partnership with Second Harvest and the opportunity we have to make Middle Tennessee healthier together.”

Throughout the partnership, Second Harvest and LifePoint will continue to develop solutions addressing both food-insecurity issues and diet-related health issues affecting the lives of many individuals and families in Middle Tennessee that they serve.

We hope you will join us this Nutrition Month to help us build healthy communities for everyone here in Middle Tennessee.
