The Hunger in America study series is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive insight into charitable food distribution in the United States.
The study takes place every four year. The most recent, Hunger in America 2014, is the sixth and most comprehensive study undertaken. The 2014 study reveals that each year, the Feeding America network of food banks provides service to 46.5 million people in need across the United States, including 12 million children and 7 million seniors. Through a network of 58,000 pantries, meal service programs, and other charitable food programs, the Feeding America network reaches people in need in every community across the U.S.

Hunger in America 2014 captures information about the scope of services that the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee network provides to clients facing hunger as well as the challenges, barriers and coping methods that these clients experience each day. The study documents the crucial role that food banks and their partner agencies play in supporting struggling families in the United States.
