We Need to Close the Meal Gap
Despite all the great progress we’ve made together with our donors, partners, and volunteers, there are still 34 million meals missing annually from Middle TN tables. We can’t abandon these people. So we embarked on a project to change the way we work, re-positioning ourselves for the future.
Setting the Table for the Future
With your help on this capital campaign, by 2025 we’ll distribute 62 million meals a year, closing the meal gap in our 46-county service area.
How You Can Help
A study showed us a better way to move food through our 46 counties, advising us to expand Nashville headquarters, and open distribution centers in Benton and Rutherford counties. Right now, we turn every $1 you donate into 4 meals. When we’re done, this project will make every dollar stretch to feed even more hungry children, families, and seniors. Here’s how:
Capacity
Roughly 50% of produce is thrown away across the country. With more storage space, we can rescue more food from grocery stores, food manufacturers, and farmers.
Proximity
For a person staring at empty cupboards, help can’t come fast enough. We’re shortening the path from food source to client by adding locations
Community
Being in two more counties makes it easier for volunteers and nonprofits outside of the Nashville area to work with us and help their local communities.
