How is Second Harvest Celebrating Volunteers?

During Volunteer Appreciation Month in April, people come together to spread joy and help others. It’s a time to celebrate how even the smallest acts of kindness can create positive change in the world.

Volunteer Appreciation Month has a rich history dating back decades. It began as a way to recognize and celebrate the contributions of volunteers across the United States. Over time, it has grown into a month-long observance dedicated to promoting volunteerism and community service. At Second Harvest, Volunteer Appreciation Month highlights the importance of volunteering in our collective fight against hunger.

Volunteers play a crucial role at Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Every day they sort, pack, and distribute food to our neighbors in need throughout Middle and West Tennessee. Without volunteers, Second Harvest would not be able to serve our community. By giving their time and effort, volunteers are at the center of the work we do at Second Harvest.

Last year, our dedicated volunteers collectively devoted nearly 70,000 hours to assist Second Harvest in our ongoing battle against hunger. That remarkable effort amounts to almost 1,750 work weeks generously given by our volunteers!

If you want to help make a difference, now’s the time to get involved! Volunteer Appreciation Month is a great opportunity to join us. You can sign up for a volunteer shift, tell others about Second Harvest, or donate to support our mission. Every little bit helps as we work together to fight hunger in Middle Tennessee.

We can’t thank our volunteers enough, and are ecstatic to spend the month of April appreciating all they do in the fight against hunger.

Chaque dollar que vous donnez aide à fournir au moins 4 repas à des familles dans le besoin grâce à Second Harvest.
