It is estimated that more than 490,000 men, women and children in Middle and West Tennessee face hunger every day amid the COVID-19 pandemic. At Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, we know that asking for help isn’t easy, but giving help and taking action can be.

Which is why First Horizon is once again partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank this September for Hunger Action Month – a time when food banks across the country come together with their hunger-fighting partners to bring awareness to food insecurity and urge their communities to take action in the fight against hunger.

“Right now, more and more families are turning to Second Harvest during these difficult times and they need our help more than ever,” said Carol Yochem, president of First Horizon Bank, Middle Tennessee Region. 

FIRST TENNESSEE HELPS FEED FAMILIES FACING HUNGER

In the last two years alone, First Horizon has helped distribute close to 95,000 pounds of food to nearly 2,400 food insecure Middle Tennesseans by hosting Mobile Pantries – large-scale, one-day distributions in which nutritious food is delivered by Second Harvest to underserved communities where many individuals struggle to put food on the table. 

First Horizon plans to host an additional two Mobile Food Pantries this fall, in addition to their support of Second Harvest’s Hunger Action Month campaign, funding our BackPack program, as well as their employees volunteering their time at our one of our three distribution centers and out in the community.

With First Horizon’s support, Second Harvest is feeding hope and fighting hunger across Middle and West Tennessee during this critical time.
