Dell Technologies Helps Children and Families At-Risk of Hunger This Summer

Dell Technologies partners with Second Harvest to make this a Hunger Free Summer in Middle and West Tennessee

Our neighbors in Middle and West Tennessee are struggling this summer – including many children. The COVID-19 pandemic and the related school closures and job losses have put many children in our community at an even higher risk of hunger.

Recognizing the immense need, Dell Technologies – a leader in digital transformation – has partnered with Second Harvest to ensure that children and families have a hunger free summer this year.

“For many children, summer can be the hungriest time of the year,” said Brittany Garton, Community Involvement Ambassador at Dell Technologies. “When the school year ends and cafeterias close many children lose access to meals they depend on and parents may struggle to provide. With COVID-19, schools closed two months early this year, the need has become even more dire.”

Feeding America projects that nearly 27 percent of children living in Second Harvest’s 46-county service area are currently food insecure – a nearly 40 percent increase compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s 1 in 4 children at-risk of hunger.

“Dell believes in giving back to the communities where we live and work, including Nashville,” said Garton. “As a proud partner, we are supporting this cause to bring awareness to food insecurity in Middle Tennessee, especially during these summer months.”
