This month’s virtual book club selection is “Worldchanging 101: Challenging the Myth of Powerlessness” by David Lamotte. It challenges some deeply held, though seldom examined, ideas we have about how large societal changes happen and what our own roles in those changes can be. Drawing on stories from many countries, LaMotte challenges internalized narratives that keep us immobile in the face of problems that confront us as communities.
Here at Second Harvest, we believe that an important part of feeding hungry people and working to solve hunger issues in our community is learning more about them. Read the book, and then join us online where we’ll discuss what we learned and how it relates to food insecurity and the work we do to feed hungry people.
This free, educational event is designed with Second Harvest volunteers in mind, but there’s no volunteer component and everyone is welcome. Recommended for ages 16 and older.
