First Presbyterian donates 94,000 meals
In the wake of tornadoes and the pandemic, First Presbyterian Church of Nashville launched the 15:25 Project. Inspired by a Bible passage about charity, the congregation selected one charity partner a week for six weeks, starting with a Second Harvest virtual food drive.
Church members donated more than $23,500 in that week, resulting in more than 94,000 meals for Middle Tennesseans struggling with food insecurity.
In a video message Pastor Ryan V. Moore told the congregation: “You’ve listened to the needs of those who’ve been impacted…you’ve listened, and you’ve acted with the heart of God.”

Sean Mooney, CEO of BluWave, said when unemployment jumped and schools shut down, "we were all asking ourselves what we could do to help." He and his colleagues were especially concerned about the kids who might go hungry without free school breakfasts and lunches.
His investment firm joined forces with two others – CapitalSpring y Bailey Southwell & Co. – to create the Business Builders of Nashville virtual food drive. By reaching out to colleagues, partners, clients, and industry contacts, they raised $69,000 for Second Harvest in just a few weeks.
