Breaking News: We have a $1 Million Match just in time for Giving Tuesday

Double you impact on Giving Tuesday (or #GivingFoodDay as we like to call it) on November 30 and bring hope to those struggling with hunger this holiday season.

The holidays looks a little different this year, however there are some things that remain the same, including Giving Tuesday. A global day of giving that is even more critical this year with so many of our neighbors struggling to access the food they need.

This past year, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee distributed 48.5 million meals to our Middle and West Tennessee neighbors during the pandemic, more than another other year before. Economic fallout from the pandemic and surging food prices continue to bring new people to Second Harvest and our Partner Agencies – hardworking families who never thought they’d need a food pantry.

#GivingFoodDay for families like Myrtle’s

A lifelong Smith County resident, Myrtle was working three service industry jobs when she suffered a massive stroke. Doctors said she’d never walk or talk again. She’s come a long way, but her husband’s salary alone couldn’t cover their living and medical expenses. Some nights, dinner was just a potato. And then she heard about Second Harvest. Your support makes hunger relief possible for people like Myrtle.

“I can remember us just heaving peas and taters at home, me and my husband, and somebody told me about the food bank. So, I have been coming to the food bank and that puts food on our table for us. Then I come back and I give my time to help feed the people in line.”– Myrtle

Now thanks to a generous group of donors, Second Harvest has a $1 Million match starting today for Giving Tuesday. That means you can double you impact for families like Myrtle’s, that are struggling with hunger. But we can’t do it without your help!

Your donation is someone’s dinner and with a $1 Million match your gift will be doubled!

See what your generosity can buy for someone in need!
