Martin Luther King Jr. Sort-A-Thon

img_4536Last weekend, بنك الحصاد الثاني للأغذية في وسط تينيسي honored Martin Luther King, Jr. by hosting a three-day volunteer sort-a-thon. The weekend included special volunteer opportunities Saturday, January 14 through Monday, January 16, 2017.  Families, individuals and groups were welcome to come start their year off by giving back!

More than 650 volunteers signed up for the sort-a-thon, showing how generous our community can be when called to action. Together they sorted enough  food to provide 80,000 meals to children, families and seniors at risk of hunger in Middle and West Tennessee.

It is only with the help of our volunteers that we can achieve our mission of feeding hungry people and working to solve hunger issues in our community. 1 in 7 Middle Tennesseans, including 1 in 5 children, struggles with hunger. We rely on volunteers every day to help sort and pack food donations.

If you are interested in learning more about our volunteer opportunities, please visit our website here or sign up to receive our monthly volunteer eNewsletter.
