The feeling of running on empty is a reality for 48 million Americans, including 1 million Tennesseans. On an empty stomach, no one can reach their full potential.
Together, we can have a big impact on hunger. As individuals, charities, businesses and government, we all have a role to play in getting food to those who are struggling.
We encourage you to take action this September and especially on September 8, National Hunger Action Day. It is a day to focus our efforts to create an even bigger impact. Whether it be raising awareness on social media, attending one of our Hunger Action Month events, scheduling a volunteer shift or making a donation, every action you take brings hope to those in need.
JOIN THE MOVEMENT
Here are ways you can participate in Hunger Action Month.
Go Orange: Orange is the symbolic color of hunger relief and we are encouraging individuals, charities, businesses and government to Go Orange together to raise awareness for our neighbors struggling with hunger. Add a pop of orange to your wardrobe and take a photo sharing with us online at #HungerActionTN. Watch as notable landmarks around town and nationwide light up the night orange. We hope this will inspire you to spread the word about Hunger Action Month. More ideas to Go Orange here.
Post a Plate: You can’t do much on an empty stomach. We need to make sure that no child, adult or senior ever runs on empty. This September, take action to end hunger and post a plate to help raise hunger awareness with your friends and family. Participating is an easy action you can take to show your support for those who are struggling. Grab a plate and write what you can’t do on an empty stomach and take a photo sharing with us online using #HungerActionTN
تطوع: Sign up for a shift today or throughout the month of September!
