SNAP Participants Can Now Use Benefits to Buy Groceries Online

Tennessee now allows SNAP participants to purchase groceries online for delivery or pick-up.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Human Services has announced the ability for SNAP participants to purchase food online using an EBT card at select retailers. This update to SNAP benefits will allow participants to safely purchase food during the pandemic.

Amazon

To purchase food on Amazon’s website, you add your EBT card and then enter your EBT pin to pay. In order to ensure that items ship free, Amazon is waiving the requirement of a Prime membership for free Amazon Fresh shipping for SNAP recipients.

Walmart

To purchase food on Walmart’s website, you can order groceries online or on the app, then you select EBT card at checkout and swipe your card at pickup.

Kroger

SNAP recipients may also shop online for groceries at Kroger through Kroger.com or the Kroger app. To order through Kroger, recipients can place their order and use their SNAP/EBT as the payment method. EBT card customers can complete their transaction with an associate and pay for ineligible EBT purchases with a debit or credit card.
