This holiday season has brought added strain for thousands of families. The recent government shutdown interrupted SNAP benefits for more than 120,000 households across Middle and West Tennessee, cutting off a critical source of grocery support during one of the most expensive times of year.
Even before this disruption, hunger was already a daily reality for many. Across our 46-county service area, 445,000 people live with food insecurity, often forced to choose between paying bills, affording medication, and putting food on the table. The loss of SNAP benefits has only deepened this crisis, making holiday hunger relief in Middle Tennessee an urgent priority.
