Volunteer at a Mobile Pantry

Guest blog by Meghan Markie, Second Harvest Volunteer Services Manager

Mobile Pantries are a great way to get involved with the mission of Second Harvest. Volunteers will have a chance to work hard, have fun, and see firsthand the work that Second Harvest and our Community Food Partners are doing to fight hunger and feed hope.

Marissa Campbell, who volunteered at a recent Mobile Pantry at the Well in Spring Hill, said, her volunteer experience was an amazing as she was able to hand food directly to people who were in need.  ”I was shocked by how many of our neighbors, friends, and people we see at church are in need of help,” Campbell exclaimed.

Mobile Pantries help families in our 46-county service area, and we ship about 15,000 pounds of food to each Mobile Pantry location.

“The need is so great, and volunteering at a Mobile Pantry changed how I think about the problem of hunger,” Campbell explained. “Volunteering at this event changed my life.  It was a great time, and very meaningful.”

A Mobile Pantry is a great way to get involved and learn more about what we do here at Second Harvest. Volunteers at Mobile Pantries help set up, hand out food to those in need, and clean up after the event.  Sign up to volunteer at a Mobile Pantry at Hand on Nashville , or e-mail our Volunteer Services Manager with any questions at volunteer@secondharvestmidtn.org.
